THE LEFT EAR

Directed by a Taiwanese film director, Alec Su, The Left Ear is a novel based romance film that grossed cumulatively over US$78 million. As it gained popularity among audiences beyond Asia regions, the infamous casts, Oho Ou (Award recipient for the Most Anticipated Actor in the 16th Chinese Film Media Awards) and Chen Duling (Nominee for the Best New Actress in 24th Shanghai Film Critics Awards) had visited Melbourne on May 8, 2015 to attend the fan meet-and-greet event as well as the official media release of movie itself.

The movie portrays a saddening love story of teenage girl, Li Er (casted by Chen Duling), who is partially deaf in her left ear. The story involves multiple entanglements of relationships and feelings among the movie characters, including Xu Yi, Zhang Yang (casted by Oho Ou), Li Bala and Jiang Jiao. It was not an easy task to adapt the storyline of an award-winning novel, said Alec himself. "The film is not just about pain, betrayal and redemption, it is all about creating resonance among the audiences to experience the deepest and most realistic pain of being youth. I never avoid the dark side of being youth. I think the greatest matters for youth are pain and growth. "
